2008 Robert Mondavi Solaire: Black cherry, very flavorful, good
http://allrecipes.com//Recipe/grilled-salmon-i/Detail.aspx. then i popped it in the oven at 375 degrees with a portion of the marinade for about 20 minutes. i added some steamed new potatoes and broccoli and then sat down to a glass of this santa lucia highlands californian. honestly, this is a good, full-flavored pinot, and that's not surprising, given mondavi's reputation. it started out a bit tannic and rough, but after an hour or so, it's smoothed over. it's got a concentrated nose and flavor of black cherry, both of which make it very easy to drink. this is one of the best pinots i've had for this price (about $14) because it lacks the acidity a lot of other pinots that are under $20 seem to have. i will definitely be getting this again. 13.5 percent alcohol. winetree.
